COVID-19 Vaccinations

Posted on 22 Nov 2021

As you may be aware, schools across the country have been designated by Chief Medical Officers to host COVID-19 vaccinations for young people in Years 7-11.    Local School Aged Immunisation Services (SAIS), commissioned by NHS England and Improvement, are responsible for delivering the COVID-19 vaccination to this age group and they will be coming into Northfield on the Wednesday 1st December to facilitate this offer.

We have sent communication to all parents and carers highlighting your child’s eligibility to receive this vaccination and invites you, as parents and carers, to offer your consent.  The school must stress that we are a host site for the vaccinations and only children who have parental consent will be offered the vaccination.

To view the letter from the COVID-19 vaccination centre outlining the details of this vaccination including a very comprehensive section on frequently asked questions, please click here.  Please note, in paragraph 6 and 7, the letter references ‘re-consent,’ which may sound a bit surprising since the school has not sought to establish any consent prior to this email.  This does not apply to the Northfield context but is in fact a consequence of another service taking over from the local immunisation teams.

The email contains a link for you to give your consent via a Microsoft Forms document.  The consent link can also be found below.  Please follow this link if you wish your child to receive the vaccination.  When completing the form, the first page requests your child’s class.  It is sufficient to only enter your child’s year group in this section.

The link will be available until 12pm on Monday 29th November.  Your child will only be given the vaccine if you consent to it.  Any questions should be relayed to the local immunisation service on the number below.   Thank you for your support and understanding with this process.
