Homework

At Northfield, homework is an important part of our approach to improving pupil outcomes. It supports our whole-school focus on retention, skills and challenge by helping pupils to revisit learning, practise key skills and apply their knowledge independently.

Homework is designed to be purposeful and closely linked to classroom learning. It helps pupils to strengthen recall, deepen understanding and develop the organisation, resilience and independence needed for success in school and beyond. It also supports pupils to prepare effectively for assessments and examinations through regular practice over time.

Homework is set using the platforms Teams, Seneca, Sparx and Showbie, enabling teachers to provide structured tasks across different subjects and year groups.

Parents and carers play an important role in supporting homework completion. We value this partnership and aim to keep expectations clear so that families can help pupils stay organised, meet deadlines and build effective study habits. To help with this, at the bottom of this page there are links where you can see what homework has been set.  You would need your child's log in details to do so.

If a pupil has difficulty accessing homework or completing tasks at home, they should speak to their teacher, guidance team or a member of the IT Support team so that support can be provided.  We also run a homework club, should any pupil feel that they would benefit from the quiet, structured environment that it provides.
