🇺🇸 USA Trip – Day 7 🗽✈️ Our final day in New York was the perfect way to end an unforgettable adventure! 🌇💙 We started with a walk along the iconic High Line 🌿 before exploring the beautiful Little Island 🌺, taking in some incredible views 📸 and enjoying the sunshine. ☀️ Next stop was the bustling Chelsea Market 🥨🍩, where pupils sampled some delicious treats 😋 and soaked up the city's vibrant atmosphere. 🎉 No trip to New York would be complete without one last shopping spree at Macy's 🛍️—there were plenty of souvenirs 🎁, gifts 🎀 and last-minute bargains packed into suitcases! 🧳😂 With memories made ❤️, phones full of photos 📱📸 and bags (just about!) zipped up 🧳, it was time to head to the airport. ✈️ It's been a plane amazing week ✈️😄 full of unforgettable experiences 🌟, new friendships 🤝 and memories that will last a lifetime. 💙 Thank you, New York—you've been absolutely apple-solutely incredible! 🍎🗽❤️ #Northfield #USATrip #Day7 #NewYork #HighLine #LittleIsland #ChelseaMarket #Macys #SchoolTrip #LearningBeyondTheClassroom #MakingMemories #TeamNorthfield #USAAdventure #UntilNextTime

🇺🇸 USA Trip – Day 6 🗽✨ Day 6 was shop-tastic from start to finish! 🛍️🤩 We kicked things off with a stroll down the world-famous Fifth Avenue 🏙️, where pupils put their budgeting skills 💵 to the ultimate test. From souvenirs 🎁 to stylish finds 👕, there was plenty of shopportunity to treat themselves—safe to say a few suitcases 🧳 may now be travelling home a little heavier! 😂 Next, we went wild at Central Park Zoo 🦁🐧🐒, where curious creatures and close-up encounters had everyone roaring with excitement. 🐉🚣 Dragon Boating Adventure! 🌊💙 On Wednesday, it was the turn of our Year 7 pupils in the morning 🌅, followed by Year 8 (along with some guest Year 9s 🎉) in the afternoon to experience Dragon Boating at the River Tees Watersports Centre. 🇺🇸 USA Trip – Day 5 🗽✨ What an incredible day exploring the very best of New York City! 🤩🌆 Our adventure began with a visit to the iconic Statue of Liberty 🗽, where pupils learned about its history 📚 and enjoyed stunning views across the harbour. 🌊 We then took on the famous Brooklyn Bridge 🌉, soaking up the skyline 🏙️ before heading to DUMBO 📸 to capture the classic New York photo with the Manhattan Bridge in the background. 🌟 Next, we explored Wall Street 💼📈, discovering the heart of New York's financial district, before spending time at the incredibly moving 9/11 Memorial & Museum 🕊️❤️. It was a powerful and thought-provoking experience that gave everyone the opportunity to reflect on an important moment in history. 🇺🇸 USA Trip – Day 4 🗽✨ Today our pupils stepped back in time ⏳ as they explored the historic Independence Hall 🏛️ and the streets of downtown Philadelphia 🌆, discovering where some of America's most important moments unfolded. It was fantastic to see their curiosity and enthusiasm 🤩 as they brought their classroom learning to life. 📚✨ After a busy afternoon of sightseeing 🚶‍♂️📸, we enjoyed dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. 🍤🍽️, before heading to the city that never sleeps. 🌃🚍 The highlight of the evening was experiencing the bright lights ✨ and incredible atmosphere of Times Square 🗽🌟 for the very first time. 🇺🇸✈️ USA Trip – Day 3 Part 2 🏛️⚽ Today our pupils truly made history come alive! 📚✨ First stop was the iconic White House 🏛️, followed by a fascinating visit to The People's House, where they explored the story behind America's most famous address. 🇺🇸 The learning continued at the incredible Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History 🦖🦕, before heading to the famous J. Edgar Hoover Building 🏢 and the historic Ford's Theatre 🎭. It was certainly a day packed with monuments, memories and museum-ments! 😄 As the sun began to set 🌅, it was game on at the FIFA Fan Zone ⚽🌍, where pupils joined football fans from around the world to watch Germany take on Paraguay in a thrilling World Cup atmosphere. 🏆 The excitement didn't stay on the big screen either... some of our pupils even laced up their boots 👟 and joined an impromptu football match with fellow young fans. Safe to say they were making international connections one pass at a time! ⚽🤝🌎 To round off a fantastic day, the group headed to Carmine's 🍝🇮🇹 for a traditional Italian dinner. 🌊🗺️ Year 8 Geography Fieldwork ☀️📚 Last week Year 8 pupils carried out Geography Fieldwork in Seaham, investigating how coastal processes change our coastline. 🌊🏖️ Pupils were excellent in very hot conditions. ☀️👏 They used a number of fieldwork techniques, which prepares pupils for GCSE Geography 📏📝. 🇺🇸✈️ USA Trip – Day 2 🏛️🌧️ Day 2 was another exciting day packed with sightseeing around Washington, D.C. 🗽 Pupils began by visiting the Washington Monument 🏛️ before heading to Capitol Hill 🇺🇸 to learn more about the heart of American government. They then explored the National Museum of American History 🏺, where they saw fascinating exhibits celebrating the nation's past and even discovered iconic pieces of pop culture 🎬, proving that history isn't just found in textbooks—it's on the big screen too! 📚✨ The group also visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum 🕊️, where pupils spent time reflecting on the powerful and moving exhibits, gaining a deeper understanding of one of history's darkest chapters and the importance of remembrance. ❤️ Later in the day, the group visited the Navy Memorial ⚓ before ending with a well-earned dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe 🍔🍟, where everyone enjoyed great food and shared stories from the day's adventures. 😄 The only thing that seemed determined to join us all day was the rain 🌧️😂—it clearly didn't want to miss out on the sightseeing either! 📚 June Library Round-Up – 'Keep Reading' 📖✨ This month it's been all about sport ⚽🏏🏀 at Northfield Library with our displays and competition for the start of the World Cup 🌍🏆. We also have books whatever sport pupils are into as part of the National Year of Reading's Summer of Sport 📚💪. 📖 4th–12th June we took part in the Empathy Festival ❤️ with the theme 'Jump into Someone Else's Story', encouraging young people to 'read for empathy'. We showcased a fantastic range of books from their recommended reading lists, and our Book Club joined online with authors Matt Goodfellow and Manjeet Mann, sharing their books and discussing the importance of connection. 💬📚 🌈 A display was created to celebrate Pride Month with books from our GSA recommended reading list. 📖🏳️‍🌈 🌍 15th–21st June we highlighted Refugee Week with the theme 'Courage' 💛 and a display of books endorsed by Amnesty International. Also this week was Learning Disability Week with the theme 'Do you see me?' 💙, raising awareness for people with learning disabilities to be seen, heard and valued. 🌞 Other displays have commemorated D-Day, the Summer Solstice and World Environment Day 🌿. 🔬💡 Northfield Students Take Part in Teesside STEM Challenge 🤖🧪 On Friday 26th June, 12 Year 8 and Year 9 students from Northfield attended the Teesside STEM Challenge Day at Middlesbrough College with Miss Robertson. 👏🎓 Students took part in a range of exciting STEM activities, including a 🕵️ forensic investigation, 🩺 diagnosing a patient and 🤖 programming a robot.
