Former Northfield School pupil Eleanor Dale recently received the call that every aspiring athlete dreams of, the call-up to represent her country. Although this is not Eleanor's first call-up, with the youngster representing Englands U17s, U18s and U19s, she made her U23 debut by coming on as a substitute for the young lionesses' 0-0 draw against Spain last week.

Eleanor began her career aged five, playing for her local team, Billingham Juniors. She worked hard at the sport she loved, eventually signing for Middlesbrough Women when she was 16 and then transferring to Durham in the Women's Championship.

The talented striker now plays for the American team, Nebraska Huskers, after securing a soccer scholarship at the University of Nebraska in 2020. She regularly scores goals for the American soccer team, which caught the attention of U23 England coach Mo Marley. On top of playing brilliant football for the university, Eleanor also studies law and criminology, which she is due to complete at the end of the year.

Elearnor's dad, Lee, told Teesside Live: 'Eleanor hopes to turn professional after completing her studies in Nebraska and has the ambition to play football full-time in the Women's Super League.'

Our congratulations go to Eleanor for this fantastic achievement. We wish you all the very best for your promising football career, and we're sure we'll be reading more about you in the near future.
