Inspiring creative and imaginative explorers and artists through a rich and inclusive programme of study. Pupils explore a diverse range of theatrical styles and practitioners. They learn to collaborate, take creative risks, and respond thoughtfully to the world around them. Drama provides a safe space for pupils to explore complex ideas, challenge perspectives, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others
In Key Stage 3, weekly Drama lessons allow pupils to develop their inter-personal and confidence skills, whilst exploring a range of issues and play texts through a variety of collaborative, practical activities. Pupils develop their knowledge and use of a wide range of Acting, Directing and Technical Theatre skills. Lessons are delivered in a dynamic, student-led manner and pupils are challenged to develop characters and performances with depth, using a broad variety of rehearsal techniques.
Those who choose to continue with GCSE Drama go on to develop their skills and knowledge further, exploring and performing published play texts, creating and devising their own, original performances from a plethora of stimuli, and analysing play texts and live performances.
